SoFi acquires UK retail investment platform PrimaryBid

SoFi Technologies has acquired PrimaryBid, a UK fintech that provides retail investors with access to public markets. The financial terms of the deal have not been disclosed.

Established in 2016, PrimaryBid offers a suite of retail capital-raising solutions that provide access to IPOs, follow-on offerings, block sales, and fixed income transactions. The fintech's platform, which has facilitated over 300 offerings and processed over $1.5 billion in transaction value, seeks to democratise access to corporate fundraisings and public market flotations historically dominated by institutional players.

Spanish treasury platform Embat lands €30m Series B for European expansion

Embat, a Spanish fintech specialising in treasury management, has raised €30 million in Series B funding led by Paris-based VC firm Cathay Innovation. 

The round brings the company's total capital raised to date to €50 million and includes continued backing from existing shareholders Creandum, Samaipata, 4Founders, and Venture Friends, all of whom participated in the company's $16 million Series A round in 2024.

Kashable raises $60m Series C led by Goldman Sachs

New York-based fintech Kashable has bagged $60 million in Series C funding to further develop its employee financial wellness platform. The round was led by Sustainable Investing at Goldman Sachs Alternatives, which Kashable says made a commitment of "up to $50 million, including an initial $25 million investment and an additional $25 million to be funded in the coming months, subject to conditions".

The remaining $10 million was delivered by existing backers Revolution Ventures and EJF Ventures, which both previously participated in a $25.6 million Series B funding round for Kashable in January 2024. The company went on to land a $250 million credit facility, led by Nomura Corporate Funding Americas, in June last year.

Founded in 2013, Kashable provides a range of "socially responsible" credit solutions designed to support employees' financial health. Its offerings include low-cost loans ranging from $250 to $30,000 and free credit monitoring services.

ECB inks standards deals for digital euro payments

The European Central Bank has inked new agreements with Nexo Standards, the Berlin Group and the European Cards Payment Cooperation (ECPC) to base digital euro online payments on existing open technical standards.

Nexo Standards will provide ISO 20022-based specifications that link merchant systems to payment service providers and acquirers, covering core flows such as authorisation, capture, refunds, reversals, and reconciliation for e-commerce and in-app transactions.

The Berlin Group's frameworks enable alias-based initiation, for example via phone number, as well as standardised balance and account queries, and reconciliation tools for mobile-initiated acceptance, including merchant‑app payments.

Mexico's Plata hits $5bn valuation following $405m Series C

Mexican challenger bank Plata has achieved a valuation of $5 billion following a $405 million Series C funding round, establishing itself as Latin America's most valuable privately held digital bank.

Over the past year, Plata's valuation has risen dramatically. It was valued at $1.5 billion after a $160 million Series A in March 2025 and reached $3.1 billion following a $250 million Series B just six months ago. In December, the company secured up to $500 million in financing from Japan's Nomura Securities International, which was described as "the largest private credit financing ever raised by a Mexican fintech".

MillTech valued at $325m following $60m Apax investment

Apax Partners has picked up a minority stake in risk management platform MillTech for $60 million. The investment was made through the firm's growth equity arm, Apax Digital Funds, and valued MillTech at $325 million.

MillTech last raised $30 million in June 2021 from VCM Global Asset Management, whose managing director Santiago Tello at the time said the round attracted "a reasonable valuation". Claiming to have delivered 73% revenue growth in 2025, the company will now use the fresh funds to execute a planned expansion into North America, and enhance its treasury management capabilities.
