FCA publishes new review into how AI could reshape retail financial services

The UK's Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) has published a new review examining the impact of AI on retail financial services, revealing existing consumer appetite for agentic AI.

Arguing that "AI could reshape the sector by 2030", the paper identifies a shift in the retail financial sector from "human-led, towards AI-enabled, continuous and delegated services".

The research indicates that one in five UK adults are already receptive to AI-driven decision-making, though it warns that consumer adoption will depend on "trust, control and access". Concerns persist regarding how the technology could "amplify risks associated with fraud, cyber security and consumer harm".
